Retail Projects
Wink Cupcakes
Seattle, WA
Wink Cupcakes boasts a highly efficient space plan featuring a
bakery and retail outlet. The bakery is in full view from the
street and the store allows customers to see the ingredients going into
every cupcake. A small bar as well as tables allow customers to
linger with a coffee and cupcake, while built in shelving provides space
for retail needs. The floor is stained concrete to match the
exposed painting ceiling and ductwork. Granite countertops, crisp
stainless steel and bright white cabinets make up the materials palette
as well as splashes of 'Wink Pink'. Wink Cupcakes recently opened
on Queen Anne Hill in January of 2010.
Shipwreck Beads
Corporate Headquarters
80,000 s.f.
Lacey, WA
With more than 7 billion beads in stock and not enough room to house
them, the owners of Shipwreck Beads needed to relocate and expand into a
facility for its corporate offices, training classrooms, distribution
center, and retail/wholesale store. As part of the design/build team led
by Poe Construction, we designed a 24' clear tilt-up concrete building,
four times larger than Shipwreck's former facility. Included is space
for future office expansion and rental space for private craft shops.
Dropped footings and future dock door knockouts give the owners the
flexibility to convert to more of a distribution center and adapt to
changing markets. In 2004, Craft Architects and the team were honored as
the recipients of NAIOP's Industrial Development of the Year Award for
the Shipwreck Beads headquarters.
Longs Drugs
Puget Sound Region
Craft Architects assisted Longs Drugs with numerous remodel projects,
including a new 26,000 square foot prototype retail store that included
a pharmacy, cosmetics area, photo/mail center, and a new 4,300 square
foot second floor office space for their Northwest district offices.
Additional projects included a 23,000 square foot retail store in an
existing strip mall and the permitting of 22 Drug Emporium stores
purchased by Longs Drugs.
