Korry Electronics Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

(September 1, 2009)—Craft Architects had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for Esterline Corporation, Korry Electronics’ new facility in Snohomish County, on Paine Field.  The ceremony was full of both pride and inspiration as 600 current and former Korry employees attended as well as the Governor of Washington, Christine Gregoire, Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, and Senator Paull Shin.  After the ceremony the 13 week process of moving Korry’s fabrication and assembly equipment into the new space began.  As Dan McFeeley, Korry CEO, jokingly reminded us – since the facility did not come with an owner’s manual, they also begin the task of learning how to operate their new LEAN machine.  We at Craft are extremely proud of this complicated, creative, challenging and interesting $53 million industrial facility.  It is an excellent example of what a dedicated, collaborative team can accomplish.

A $750,000 renovation project at the Wells Fargo Bank branch on Eighth Street is expected to be completed in mid-September. The bank remains open during construction.

The local branch of Wells Fargo Bank will soon be more energy efficient after a $750,000 renovation.

The bank, located at 1018 Eighth St., will also be updated both inside and outside with what is described as a Northwest coastal contemporary look, according to Lara Underhill, communication manager for Wells Fargo.

Windows will be added for more natural light and the existing storefront glass will be replaced with energy efficient windows. A new entry vestibule will also be added.

Landscaping beside the parking lot will include drought-tolerant native plants, Underhill said.

Construction started July 11 and is scheduled to be complete by Sept. 15. The bank is open during construction and the ATM is temporarily located on the Eighth Street side of the building.

The ATM will be relocated to its permanent location adjacent to the new entrance on Aug. 23.

The Anacortes branch is the only bank being renovated to bring the building more up to date, Underhill said. A grand reopening will be scheduled when the construction is complete.
